Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Japanese Sentence Card (the "app"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The service
Japanese Sentence Card is a flashcard app for studying Japanese sentences using spaced repetition. Some features — unlimited tags, downloading tags shared by other users, and advanced review-card display settings — require a Premium subscription, described below. Everything else is available on the Free plan.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, which permanently removes your account and its data — see our Privacy Policy for details.
Subscriptions and billing
- Plans: Premium is offered as a Monthly or an Annual auto-renewing subscription. The exact price for your region is shown in the app before you purchase, through Apple's standard purchase confirmation.
- Billing and auto-renewal: payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same length and price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- Managing or canceling: manage or cancel your subscription any time via Settings → Subscriptions on your device, or the "Manage or cancel subscription" link on the app's Membership screen. Canceling stops future renewals; you keep Premium access until the current paid period ends.
- Payment processing: all payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your card details.
- Refunds: refund requests are handled by Apple under their own policies, not by us — see the Support page for how to request one.
- Changes: we may change subscription pricing or features going forward; any change won't apply retroactively to a period you've already paid for, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
Your content
You own the sentences, translations, and recordings you create. By sharing a tag to the Community, you grant other users a license to download and study from a copy of it, and you grant us a license to display, store, and distribute that shared content within the app for that purpose. You're responsible for what you share — don't share content that's illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or that you don't have the right to share.
Community guidelines
Shared tags that receive enough reports from other users are automatically hidden pending review, and repeated violations can pause an account's ability to share tags — see the Support page for specifics. Don't use the Community feature to share offensive, abusive, or infringing content, or to harass other users. We may remove shared content or restrict an account that violates these Terms.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the app — including attempting to disrupt its operation, reverse-engineer it beyond what's permitted by law, access another user's account without permission, or use it for anything unlawful.
Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the app or the Community feature for violating these Terms, including the community guidelines above.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content (such as romaji or furigana) will always be accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes to these Terms
If these Terms change, the update will be posted on this page with a revised date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
